(This) Ain't Your Polite Art Kinda Nite

“(This) Ain’t Your Polite Art Kinda Nite” is a multidisciplinary event that celebrate arts that are more “rebellious” and are more upfront with saying “F*ck You” to send a point across. The event intends to bring together artists from different art scenes – theatre, music, stand-up comedy, visual arts, poetry, and dance, and provide a safe space for artists to be more “dissenting” in their creative works. Artists are free to showcase works of any theme including taboo topics – but this does not include HATE SPEECH and discriminatory remarks of any kind.

Thoughts in Cinecolour

“Thoughts in Cinecolour” is a compilation of 5 short plays under EJKLS Seni’s the Young Blood Experiment – a mentoring programme for new writer-directors in KL, with EJKLS Seni’s founder and artistic director, AsyrafSyahir, as the instructor. For this particular project, the 2025 Cohort of TYBE will be having their first theatrical showcase; featuring Lok Shi Hoong (Bye Bye Bro ft. Abdul Min Muhaimin & Wilson Chin), Yanu (The Coastline ft. Iris Lo, Suba Magas & Virtuoes Romana), Adelia Khalid (Melur’s Choice ft. Aliya MacReynolds & Miza Aziz), Hanna Lee (Mommy Cool ft. Grace Ng), and Yuthes Umadevi Navarathinam (Kneel ft. Thasha Gunaseelan & Gemmy Tan Ragusta).

If There Is An Afterlife, I Hope It's Your Version Instead of Mine

“If There is An Afterlife, I Hope It’s Your Version Instead of Mine” is a semi-devised piece by Asyraf Syahir Najib. The play revolves around the story of a religiously-skeptical Malay woman in her early 30s (Sofia, played by Myrra Baity Khan) who is pushed to reexamine their beliefs and confront their nihilistic views on life upon taking care of her religious cancer-stricken mother. The narrative of the play will be framed 3 years after her mother’s death; in which, she is finally forced to process her own experience upon having to witness (and be there for) her childhood friends (Ryan, played by LeoniTunez & Vanessa, played by Alya Amani) who are facing a similar experience with the sudden cancer diagnosis of their mother (Ma, played by Erie Woo). The play will dominantly explore the themes of death of a loved one, beliefs and faiths, questions of the afterlife, emotional numbness and self-destructive coping mechanisms.

Public Scriptreading: If There is An Afterlife, I Hope It's Your Version instead of Mine

EJKLS Seni is organizing a public scriptreading of our upcoming play – If There is An Afterlife, I Hope It’s Your Version instead of Mine before its staging next month at Pentas 2, KLPAC. The event will be a free event but participants will need to RSVP to attend (with a maximum of 20 participants). The event will also include a small forum at the end of the scriptreading.

Breaking Borders 4.0

Breaking Borders is a multidisciplinary arts event, aimed to bridge in the gap between practitioners and enthusiasts of different art forms. The event will bring together artists from different art scenes – theatre, music, stand-up comedy, visual arts, poetry, and dance to showcase & network. The event comprises of performances, exhibition, and just plain old lepak among artists and audience; breaking the borders between performers and audience members.

Egotesticle // Memoirs of Masochists

“Egotesticle” or “Memoirs of Masochists” is a semi-devised play that explores the theme of sadomasochistic sexual behaviours as its main driving force of the plot. Regardless, the play will extensively explore the topic beyond the dimension of sex and into the dimensions of psychology, social identities and relations, and religion.
